Repair Works Are Continued in the Kanin Hotel

The co-owners of the Cubo Hotel in Ljubljana bought the Kanin Hotel (Bovec) almost 2 years ago. It currently acquires a new design look. It is assumed that the 4-star hotel under the new name Cubo Alp Resort will open its doors to future guests in the summer of 2018.

In July 2015, a Koper’s company Alpe Adria Hoteli became the owner of Kanin, 50% shares of which are owned by the Russian Sergey Vorozheikin, a co-owner of the Cubo Boutique Hotel in Ljubljana. A sum of 1.3 million euros was paid for Kanin during an open auction initiated by the bankruptcy of HIT Bovec, while the repair of the hotel will cost about 6 million euros.

The roof and window constructions have already been renovated, balconies not corresponding to the alpine climate have been replaced. The balconies are equipped with a floor heating system and drainage so that the accumulated snow and moisture will no longer cause problems.

“Taking into account that there are not so many hotels in the region, the property will be in demand and remains liquid,” says the Director of the local tour operator LTO Bovec Janko Humar on the eve of the hotel’s soon opening. He is convinced that the renovated hotel will positively affect the tourist offer in the Upper Posočje area, where about 0.5 million tourists came last year. In the whole region, there are 9,000 places for overnight stays of tourists, but all of them are located in small hotels, private apartments, rooms and hostels. Janko Humar is also considering the possibility of developing business (congress) tourism, since the Cubo Alp Resort will have three conference rooms.

The main emphasis will be placed on the active rest and a rich culinary offer. Besides, the wellness centre will have new massage rooms. The swimming pool’s sliding roof will be modernized so that in summer it will be half-open.

It is planned to create 40 new work places in connection with the hotel opening.
