The Igor Zabel Award

The Igor Zabel Award is presented for the outstanding achievements in the field of fine arts and culture of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. It is awarded to the curators working at an international level, art historians and theorists, writers and critics, who hail from these parts of Europe, live or work in them, or if their works relate to these regions. The award is named in honour of the Slovenian curator, writer and theorist of culture Igor Zabel (1958–2005), who worked as a curator of the Museum of Modern Art in Ljubljana. The Igor Zabel Society of Culture and Theory (Društvo Igorja Zabela za kulturo in teorijo) was founded in his honour and continues to promote the theory of contemporary curatorial practices. The official awarding ceremony will take place on 9 December in the Moderna Gallery (Ljubljana).
