Russian Tourists Massively Visit Resorts in Slovenia
Russian tourists again started actively visiting resorts in Slovenia, especially Rogaška Slatina and Portorož, according to the Head of the Association of Slovenian Natural Resorts (SSNZ) Iztok Altbauer. After several years of decline, the number of overnights made by the Russians in the mid-annual terms has increased by 53%. According to the number of overnight stays in Slovenia, Russian tourists are second only to the Austrians and Italians. An increase in the number of arrivals (+19%) and overnight stays (+16%) among Croatian tourists has also been recorded.
The record results of Slovenian resorts in the first half of the year have significantly improved the forecasts for the summer tourist season. The occupancy of hotels is very high, and in some places even reaches 100%.
The Terme Čatež Resort predicts a further increase in the number of overnights and the number of holidaymakers.
The leadership of the Terme Krka Resort states that the occupancy of facilities in Dolenjske Toplice and Šmarješke Toplice as well as in the coastal Strunjan and Otočec will exceed the last year’s indicators.
The Talas Strunjan Resort expects the 100% occupancy. The height of the tourist season in all resorts of the country is expected in early August, during the period of holidays and vacations in Italy.
The Therme Laško Resort also expects growth in all packages of services and health programmes, and, as a result, an increase in incomes. The resort predicts an increase in the number of foreign guests, especially from Italy.
After the last year’s record financial performance in Sava Turizem, a positive trend is also observed in the first half of 2017. The situation with the reservation of rooms for July–August, as compared to last year, has improved both in Pannonia resorts and in Bled.
Representatives of one of the best summer resorts in Slovenia Terme Olimia are also optimistic about the second half of 2017.
In 6 LifeClass hotels (Portorož), there has been a significant increase in the number of overnight stays among Russian guests (+56%) and local tourists (+53%). The number of overnight stays among Austrian and Italian guests has also increased. Currently, the statistics for booking rooms is several percent better than last year, but it is expected that the final figures will be similar to the last year’s ones.
The occupancy of places at the Terme Zreče Resort is in line with the forecasts for the season. The majority of tourists that visited the resort during the first half of the year came from different parts of Slovenia, followed by tourists from Hungary, from the former republics of Yugoslavia, Germany, Russia, Austria and Italy.
