Slovenia and Russia Continue Strengthening Economic Cooperation
Today there are all prerequisites for strengthening the Slovenian-Russian economic cooperation. Russian entrepreneurs view Slovenia as a road to the EU market, while their Slovenian counterparts tend to bring their goods and services to the Russian market.
The Spirit Slovenija State Agency and the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology focus on the opportunities for business development by Slovenian entrepreneurs not only in Moscow, but also in other regions of Russia. To this end, a number of events is held to familiarize with the business conditions in various regions of the Russian Federation. The Vladimir Region (200 km east of Moscow) is a region with developed machine engineering, textile and chemical industry, one of the dynamically developing regions of Russia. The rich history of the city of Vladimir creates a favourable basis for the development of tourism. Over the past 2 years, the Vladimir Region has received more than 1 billion external investments, launched 43 new production lines and created more than 5,000 new jobs. The heads of the region have set themselves an ambitious goal to become the most economically developed region of Central Russia. Slovenian companies in Russia receive state support and other benefits. A good step towards cooperation is made by signing in 2013 the Memorandum on Economic Cooperation between the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Slovenia and the Administration of the Vladimir Region.
Within the framework of the forum, bilateral meetings were held between Slovenian businessmen and 22 representatives of business and authorities of the Vladimir Region. Besides, a general agreement was concluded on cooperation in the field of production and sales in the Vladimir Region between Slovenian company SICO, d. o. o. and Vladimir company GARANT PLUS. The Slovenian-Russian meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere and both sides showed interest in further economic cooperation.
