Slovenia Celebrates the World Tourism Day
The Minister of Economic Development and Technology Zdravko Počivalšek states in his speech that the Slovenians can be proud of excellent results in this sphere. He notes that Slovenia is an example of a green country, and that the development of tourism promotes the revival of cultural heritage and mutual understanding between Slovenia and other countries.
The Head of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) Maja Pak also distinguishes great opportunities of the country.
“Today, the tourists’ need for a unique experience in comfortable contact with nature is obvious.
The World Tourism Day has been celebrated since 1979 on the initiative of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Today, visitors are invited for excursions and events in many Slovenian cities. For example, the Maribor-Pohorje Tourist Board offers free bike rental services and excursions around the capital of Styria. Celje invites tourists to explore the old castle. The Castle of Podsreda will also open its doors for visitors. The tourist department of Brežice prepares a regional forum for tourism.”
