On 1–7 October 2018, Slovenia hosts the nationwide campaign “Child’s Week”. The organiser is the Slovenian Association of Youth Friends (Slovene: Zveza prijateljev mladine Slovenije). The campaign focuses on the quality organisation of leisure for children and is aimed at encouraging self-organisation, emotional, sensual and creative development of a child.

During the campaign, various children’s cultural and entertainment events are held in all regions of the country. The regional offices of the Slovenian Association of Youth Friends conduct creative workshops, organise theatrical performances, film shows, presentations of various professions. In Ljubljana, children can take part in an excursion to the rescue station and to the fire station as part of the action.

Besides, children have an opportunity to independently organise their leisure time, meet peers, acquire social skills and get information about social values. A rich programme of activities is aimed at establishing trust between children through direct communication, beyond the modern technologies and social media.
