Slovenia Is Among the World’s Ten Most Peaceful Countries
According to the Global Peace Index 2019, Slovenia is among the world’s ten most peaceful countries. This index, developed by sociologists and economists from the international group of experts at the Institute for Peace, together with the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney, characterises the level of living safety around countries and regions.
It should be noted that in 2018, Slovenia ranked 11th in this ranking. This year, it has taken 8th place among 163 countries with an indicator of 1.355.
The Global Peace Index is compiled on the basis of 23 criteria including the level of respect for human rights, the political stability, the relations with neighbouring countries, the degree of trust between citizens, the crime rate, the number of prisoners, the number of murders, and the possibility of terrorist attacks.
