Slovenia’s Export of Goods and Services Grows by Almost 10% in the First Quarter

In the first quarter of this year, Slovenia exported goods and services for a total amount of 7.5 billion euros, exceeding the similar indicator of the last year by 9.3%. The volume of import in the reporting period amounted to 7.3 billion euros, which is 9% more than in 2017. The surplus of the trade balance in the first three months of 2018 amounted to 155.1 million euros, and the coverage of import by export made 102.1%. This was reported by the Statistics Service on 10 May 2018.

In March 2018, export amounted to 2.7 billion euros and exceeded the same last year’s value by 5.4%, while import made 2.6 billion euros (an increase of 4.6%). The coverage of import by export amounted to 105%, and the positive foreign trade balance made 130.6 million euros, 98.6 million euros of which accrued to the trade with non-EU countries.

In March this year, Slovenia produced 76.5% of total export and 78.7% of total import in the commodity exchange with EU member countries. The cost of goods and services exported to the EU amounted to 2.1 billion euros (5.7% more than in March last year). The cost of import from the EU amounted to 2.1 billion euros (1.5% more than in March last year).

The value of goods and services exported to markets outside the EU in March this year amounted to 642.6 million euros, which is 4.4% more than in March 2017. The cost of imports from non-EU countries amounted to 554.8 million euros, which is 17.9% more than in March last year.

In the first quarter of 2018, export of goods and services to the EU amounted to 5.8 billion euros, which is 9.7% more than in 2017, while import made 5.7 billion euros, which is 5.7% more than in the past year. In the first three months of this year, Slovenia exported goods and services totalling 1.7 billion euros to the markets outside the EU, which is 8.1% more than in 2017, and imported goods and services worth 1.6 billion euros, which is 23.5% more than in the first quarter of last year.
