Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association Receives the European Parliament Award “Citizen of Europe”

The Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association was awarded the European Parliament’s high award – Citizen of Europe. It is annually awarded to individuals, associations and organizations for special achievements that contribute to the development of mutual understanding and strengthening of cooperation between the EU member states, and also improve the policy of cross-border and international cooperation in the EU.

The Beekeepers’ Association was nominated for the award by all 8 deputies of the European Parliament from Slovenia – Lojze Peterle, Tanja Fajon, Franc Bogovič, Igor Šoltes, Patricija Šulin, Ivo Vajgl, Romana Tomc and Milan Zver. The deputies noted the role of the Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association in promoting the idea of celebrating the World Bee Day (first celebrated on 20 May 2018) and protecting the population of bees as a whole.

The awarding ceremony will be held in Brussels on 9 October 2018.
