Slovenian Chess Player Becomes World Champion

In Montevideo, Laura Unuk won the world title under the age of 18, confidently securing victory for the 1 round before the end of the championships.

In the second round, after winning the starting game, she unexpectedly failed, and then made a series of 7 wins. Thus, she repeated the achievements of the famous Slovenian grandmasters Bruno Parma (1961) and Luka Lenič (2002), who also became world champions among juniors.

In team competitions, Slovenian chess players are less lucky. At the tournament in Balatonszárszó (Hungary), both Slovenian teams played a draw in the final 9th round and both times with Germany. The women chess players finished the tournament in the 6th place. The men chess players took the 8th place.
