Slovenian Cyclist Matej Mohorič Wins the Races in Germany and Benelux Countries

The 23-year-old Slovenian cyclist Matej Mohorič, with a difference of one week, won the race in the Benelux countries and the race in Germany. In the overall standings, Matei Mohorič outstripped the Germans Nils Politt (by 6 seconds) and Maximilian Schahmann (by 12 seconds).

Thus, Slovenian cyclists have already celebrated five victories in the current season. Two victories of Matej Mohorič are accompanied by three more victories by Primož Roglič in the Basque Country, Romandie and Slovenia. It should be noted that Matej Mohorič is the current champion of the country in road cycling.

The successes of the Slovenian athletes are no exception. On Sunday, 26 August 2018, 19-year-old Tadej Pogačar won the 55th Tour de I’Avenir held in France. It involved young cyclists and semi-professionals. Due to this achievement, the young Slovene managed to repeat the success of such cycling legends as Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain, Laurent Fignon and Nairo Quintana, who had won the Tour de I’Avenir (Tour of the Future) in the past.
