Slovenian Physicist Wins the Zois Award
Slobodan Žumer is the most famous Slovene specialist in the field of theoretical physics of anisotropic soft matter and is one of the leading physicists in the world. He is the author of 270 scientific articles, which were cited more than 9 thousand times.
The Professor of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics from the University of Ljubljana, Jožef Stefan Institute’s research adviser, received the award for his high scientific and research achievements and cooperation with foreign counterparts, in particular in the area of experimental physics.
Slobodan Žumer is also the president of the International Liquid Crystal Society and a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. The founder physicist of the Ljubljana School for Physics of Liquid Crystals, one of the world’s leading centres for the study of anisotropic soft substances.
