For the first time in history, the Hiša Franko Restaurant from the settlement of Kobarid (Primorska region) has entered the Top 50 world’s best restaurants, taking the 48th place. Since 2002, this ranking has been annually published by the British Restaurant Magazine. The ranking is made up by an international jury consisting of thousands of experts, including Slovenian experts.
The list of the best restaurants of this year was released on Tuesday, 19 June, in Bilbo (Basque Country, Spain). The first place in this ranking was taken by the restaurant Osteria Francescana (Modena, Italy), the second place went to the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca (Girona, Spain), and the third place was given to the restaurant Mirazur (Menton, France). It should be noted that the 15th place in the list of the world’s best restaurants was occupied by the Moscow restaurant White Rabbit. One position higher is the famous Viennese restaurant Steirereck.
Last year, Hiša Franko took only the 69th place in said ranking. A rise by 21 lines up was possible due to the effective promotion and reputation of its chef Ana Roš. Hiša Franko is the only restaurant in the Top 50 with the kitchen being completely run by a woman. Ana Roš is recognized as the best chef of 2017.
