Slovenian Students Participate in the International Contest in Moscow

Students from the Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Ljubljana Lea Hrastovšek and Nejc Koren received an award for special achievements. They came to the 14th International Contest for the Forestry Study Programme Students together with their academic adviser. Associate Professor of the Department of Forestry and Renewable Forest Resources Dr. Milan Kobal assisted students in the development of the Collector for ArcGIS application.

In total, 35 groups of students from 28 countries presented their achievements at the contest.

Collector for ArcGIS is a GIS mobile application for the forestry sector and its employees. The application made a positive impression on the commission with its simplified and accelerated collection of (spatial) data in the field and logical control when entering data. The commission also noted the importance of the development in the ability to connect to computers, smartphones and tablets and in using the GNSS satellite receiver as well as autonomous power supply.
