Slovenian Tourist Board Receives the World Legacy Award
At the World Tourism Exchange in Berlin, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) received the World Legacy Award from National Geographic in the Destination Leadership category.
The World Legacy Awards are presented to companies, organizations or tourist sites for their activity in the field of sustainable tourism development and initiation of tourism projects.
The National Geographic presents awards in five categories: Earth Changers, Sense of Place, Conserving the Natural World, Engaging Communities, and Destination Leadership, in which the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) was awarded. The assessment is based on the sustainable practices, environmental initiatives as well as the wildlife protection activities and cultural heritage. During the awarding ceremony, the National Geographic organizers stressed that Slovenia was a country with the most developed sustainable tourism.
The list of finalists in the Destination Leadership category also included Segera Retreat (Kenya) and Riverwind Foundation from Jackson Holl (USA).
