Slovenian Wins the Final Stage of the Canoe Slalom World Cup

A native of Ljubljana Benjamin Savšek competed in the Spanish city of La Seu d’Urgell. The gold medal in the final stage brought him the second place in the overall World Cup standings.

In the semifinals, Savšek showed the second result and managed to enter the finals. In the decisive race, he confidently outperformed all competitors and won. The Slovak Alexander Slafkovsky took the second place with a lag of 0.13 seconds.

At the semi-final stage, two female athletes represented Slovenia in the women’s standings. Urša Kragelj shared third place with the current Olympic champion Spaniard Maialen Chourraut. Eva Terčelj took the final 160th place.

Besides Savšek (canoe), other rowers and slalomists also showed excellent results in their categories in the overall standings of the World Cup. Peter Kauzer (kayak) took third place, Urša Kragelj (kayak) got the fourth place, and Luka Božič (canoe) came the fifth. Eva Terčelj and Anže Berčič (canoe) completed the World Cup competition at the seventh place.
