Slovenske Železnice Modernises the Fleet of Passenger Trains

On Monday, 27 May 2019, Slovenske Železnice signed an agreement with the Swiss company Stadler to purchase 26 additional passenger trains. Taking into account a similar contract signed last year, 52 passenger trains were ordered for a total amount of 320 million euros without VAT. The first testing of the purchased trains will take place at the end of the current year.

According to the CEO of Slovenske Železnice Dušan Mes, the purchase of new trains will provide a level of services comparable to the practice of the world’s most developed countries.

Stadler trains are operated in 28 countries, in particular in Austria, Italy, and Hungary. In total, about seven thousands of its trains and locomotives travel around the world.
