Students from the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor Are Invited to Participate in Projects

As part of the open tender for Project Work with Non-economic and Non-profit Sector – Student Innovative Socially Useful Projects 2016–2020 for the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 Academic Years, students from the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor are invited to participate in the projects “Along the Path of Modra Frankinja: Modra Frankinja as the Basis of Wine Tourism in Sevnica”; “In the Footsteps of Anton Martin Slomšek in the Municipality of Brežice”; and “The Tale about Industrial Metlika. Design of Innovative Tourism Products: Industrial Tourism, Revitalization and Sustainability.”

The projects are co-financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, the Republican Foundation for Scholarships, Development, Assistance to Persons with Disabilities and Social Policy, as well as the European Social Fund.

The projects are aimed at strengthening the cooperation of the higher educational system with the non-economic and non-profit sector at the local and regional levels; implementation of models of an open and flexible transition between education and the labour market, which will provide young people with concrete practical experience during their studies; deepening the knowledge necessary to directly participate in the implementation of ideas and gain experience to improve employment opportunities.

Student participation in the projects is paid at the rate of 9 EUR gross per hour (maximum of 40 hours per month – 360 EUR). The deadline for the implementation of the projects “Along the Path of Modra Frankinja” and “In the Footsteps of Anton Martin Slomšek in the Municipality of Brežice” is 5 months (April–August 2019). The deadline for the implementation of the project “The Tale about Industrial Metlika” is 4 months (from 1 March to 1 July 2019).

During the implementation of the projects, the participating students must be officially enrolled in the relevant study programme, must not be employed or self-employed, must not be registered with the Employment Service or be a private entrepreneur.

Applications for participation are accepted until 12:00 midday, 28 February 2019, at jasna.potocnik1@um.si (for the projects “Along the Path of Modra Frankinja” and “In the Footsteps of Anton Martin Slomšek in the Municipality of Brežice”) and at barbara.pavlakovic@um.si (for the project “The Tale about Industrial Metlika”). The fact of submitting an application does not guarantee participation in the project. Mentors and teachers will conduct a selection of contestants, during which the motivation letters will be taken into account.
