Students of the Higher School of Tourism in Maribor Become Prize Winners at the Contest of Young Bartenders

In the Italian city of Castel San Pietro Terme, from 3 to 6 April, the best barmen and chefs from Europe competed in the Bartolomeo Scappi project. The students of the Higher School of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business (VSGT, Maribor) Marcel Herzog and Blaž Škrablin faced fierce competition in their discipline. Marcel presented a creatively decorated dish and took 3rd place in his category. Blaž, thanks to his inspirational performance, knowledge and his own cocktail recipe, was able to impress the jury and took 2nd place in the “Bartender Art” category.


The development of hospitality and tourism infrastructure in the countries of central and western Europe, the emergence of new dishes and culinary traditions, as well as a pleasant bonus in the form of tips make the profession of cook and barman very popular in the EU and Slovenia labour market.
