Students of the University of Maribor Present an Innovative Project in Bicycle Touring

On Thursday, 31 May 2018, the Sevnica Castle hosted an open presentation of the results of the student innovative public-spirited project “Studying the Culture and Cuisine of the Municipality of Sevnica through Bicycle Touring” (Slovene: Spoznavanje sevniške kulture in kulinarike s kolesom).

Students from the Maribor University Tourism Faculty, Vita Petek, Nina Požun, Anja Govedič, Domen Zupana, a student from the Maribor University Logistics Faculty, Klemen Seražin, students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics, Matic Bračko and Leon Abraham, and a student of the Graduate School of Management in Rural Areas, Nina Menič, participated in the project. Leaders of the project were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasna Potočnik Topler and Prof. Dr. Andrej Lisec.

Students-participants of the project, among other things, concluded that bicycle touring greatly contributes to the expansion of tourist offer. They developed and designed a project for two new cycling routes in Sevnica called Mali voz and Veliki voz. These routes include acquaintance with the rich natural and cultural heritage of Sevnica as well as its local cuisine. Since the current tourism can hardly survive without new technologies, students also created a mobile application for cyclists.
