STUDYING IN SLOVAKIA

MEDICINE, DENTISTRY, PHARMACY AND BUSINESS PROGRAMMES

General Medicine

Students studying under the programme in General Medicine receive relevant knowledge in theoretical, preclinical and clinical subjects. During practical training, they learn about the basic methods of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Upon completion of the common Master’s degree programme, graduates will be qualified in General Medicine and can apply for work as physicians of any specialisation. Training under the General Medicine study programme lasts 6 years. Graduates are awarded the Doctor of Medicine degree, which provides for employment within the European Union as well as worldwide.
Students in their sixth year of studies have an additional opportunity to complete the last academic year in their home country. The Faculty at the University of Slovakia will recognise and credit all academic obligations fulfilled by such students.
The training is completed by passing the State Final Certifying Examination in English.

Training time: 6 years.

Degree: Single-cycle Master Degree Programme.

Language of instruction: English.

Mode of attendance: intramural.

Tuition fee: €10,500 per year.

Entrance exams: on 8 July 2020 and 17 August 2020 Chemistry, Biology, English (certificate is not required).

Accommodation: dormitory.

Dentistry

Graduates of the Dentistry study programme possess relevant knowledge in the theoretical, preclinical and clinical fields of dentistry.
During practical classes and while studying subjects in Dental Medicine, students learn the basic preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic proceedures and become qualified for independent performance of the basic practical procedures. Training under the Dentistry study programme lasts 6 years. Graduates become Doctors of Dental Medicine, a degree that is recognized in all countries of the European Union and in majority of countries around the world.
Students in their sixth year of studies have an additional opportunity to complete the last academic year in their home country. The Faculty at the University of Slovakia will recognise and credit all academic obligations fulfilled by such students.
The training is completed by passing the State Final Certifying Examination in English.

Training time: 6 years.

Pharmacy

Graduates of the Pharmacy study programme possess a high level of knowledge and practical skills in Chemistry, Biology, Medicine and Pharmaceuticals, in particular, they demonstrate profound understanding of how pharmaceuticals act upon the human body, the effects and adverse reactions caused by their use, they also take into account the medical and social aspects of using pharmaceuticals.
Graduates are familiar with pharmaceutical technology, the results of pharmaceutical, microbiological and biological testing of drugs for human use, and can evaluate the scientific data on medical preparations. Besides, they know legal aspects of pharmaceutical practice.
The study programme complies with the Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the recognition of professional qualifications.

Training time: 5 years.

Degree: Single-cycle Master Degree Programme.

Language of instruction: English.

Mode of attendance: intramural.

Tuition fee: €7,500 per year.

Entrance exams: Chemistry, Biology, English (certificate is not required).

Business Administration

The City University of Seattle offers a 4-year Bachelor’s degree programme in Business Administration. The main content of the programme is Management and related fields of studies that provide a broad understanding of various business aspects, such as accounting, finance, marketing, economics, law, and international relations.
Students improve communication and decision-making skills based on the studied behavioural factors within the business world; receive a solid foundation for continuing education in many administrative, engineering and commercial sectors.

 

 

Training time: 4 years.

Degree: Bachelor’s degree study programme.

Language of instruction: English.

Mode of attendance: intramural, intramural/extramural, on-line.

Tuition fee: €2,590 per year.

Entrance exams: English
(TOEFL Certificate).

MBA Business Administration
Double Degree

The programme is intended for students with excellent knowledge of English who plan to take senior positions in companies or launch their own business.
The MBA double degree programme in Business Administration combines two accredited study programmes – the Master’s degree programme with the Higher School of Management in Bratislava and the MBA programme with the City University of Seattle.
Classes are taking place in Bratislava, from Monday to Thursday. All students have access to the CityU academic community and information resources.
Upon successful completion of training, graduates receive simultaneously two diplomas – a Master’s degree with the Slovak university, which is recognised by all EU countries, and an MBA diploma, which is recognised in the United States and internationally. Parallel training provides an opportunity to save money and time considerably for obtaining two diplomas and the integrated list of subjects offers the best of both study programmes.

FAQ

English is the official language of instruction for all study programmes offered by universities in Slovakia. Some educational institutions additionally offer a linguistic programme – intensive English courses before the start of training or in parallel with the training. Applicants must be proficient in English (B2 level is required).

Study programmes in Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy require entrance exams. The exams take place in English, at the chosen educational institution, and consist of assignments in Chemistry and Biology. Applicants will have the opportunity to prepare for exams in advance.
There are no entrance exams for Business Administration study programmes. However, the TOEFL Certificate issued two years ago and later is required. If applicants do not have the TOEFL Certificate, they can take the test at the chosen educational institution.

These certificates are not required for admission to entrance examinations under the study programmes in Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy. If the applicant understands all questions during the entrance exam and passes it successfully, it is concluded that he/she has an adequate level of English.
The offered Business study programmes require the TOEFL test.

According to the Ministry of Education, there are currently 28 universities and colleges in Slovakia that, in addition to teaching in the Slovak language, offer other languages of instruction, primarily English. Tuition in all other languages except Slovak is paid. The tuition fee varies from 750 to 11,000 euros per academic year.

All offered study programmes in Slovakia are accredited and recognised in the majority of countries around the world providing graduates with employment opportunities in any country of the European Union. Graduates of Slovak universities build successful careers and occupy senior positions both home and abroad.

Yes, full-time international students can officially work in Slovakia up to 20 hours a week.

After graduation in Slovakia, you can stay to live and work in the country. It is easier to find a job for foreign citizens with a Slovak diploma because special work permits are not required.
