Tab Mežica Starter Battery Factory Reaches a Market Value of 300 Million Euros
One of the leading private enterprises in the Carinthia region, the Tab Mežica Starter Battery Factory, which in recent years has demonstrated the record operating results, has reached a market value of 300 million euros.
Each year, 10 to 20 million euros of investment are allocated in its development. The company employs about 1,300 people: 900 employees in Carinthia and another 400 abroad (mainly in Macedonia).
As a result of the first half of 2018, the similarly named company Tab Mežica received 132 million euros of sales revenue and 14 million euros of profit. For the whole year of 2017, the company received 270 million euros of sales revenue and 22.6 million euros of profit. Last year, Tab Mežica sold 2.9 million units of starter batteries.
The last year’s consolidated profit of the entire Tab Group reached 29.6 million euros, while in 2016 it was 26.4 million euros. Sales of the Tab Group in 2017 reached 326 million euros, and in 2016 the figure was 286 million euros.
The company has recently received a purchase offer from the South African company Metair Investments. In return, the Slovenian owners emphasize the need to preserve work places and the trade mark, as well as to enter the global market of lithium-ion batteries.
