The 54-th International Exhibition of Agriculture and Consumer Industry Achievements

The current Agra Exhibition and Fair will be held in honour of the “Year of Legumes” international event.

The 20-th international exhibition of package, package technologies and INPAK logistics as well as the exhibition dedicated to the “Slovenian Packaging Oscar” competition, which involves 12 claimed persons with 15 packaging models, will be held as part of the Agra Fair.

Ljubljana. The 54-th International Agra Exhibition of Agriculture and Consumer Industry Achievements will be launched in Gornja Radgona on 20 August, which, according to the organizers, combines traditional and new senses and is the largest event in the region with 20 million inhabitants.

The current Agra Fair will take place in the framework of the “Year of Legumes” international event. The exhibition will affect various aspects of ecological farming and food products, local cuisine, herbs and aromatic plants, industrial hemp, the national wealth of forests, and the agricultural machinery for the efficient and environmentally sound land use. It will also be devoted to the Slovenian youth, cooperation with the Slovenian diaspora, and the 25th anniversary of the state independence.

The exhibition, which occupies a total area of 71,000 m2, will bring together 1,800 participants from 30 countries. The Prime Minister Miro Cerar will officially open it. According to the Mura Regional Fair Chairman Janez Erjavec, this collective event will link official, public and professional institutions with providers of advanced technologies, business partners and a wide range of consumers, who participate in the common business meetings, presentations of the latest achievements of breeding, processing, manufacturing and tasting of the awarded food products and wines.

Hungary will act as the partner country of the exhibition this year, while Belarus, Poland, Serbia with Vojvodina, Croatia, Zagreb and Mezhmurje municipalities will receive special stands as well as the municipal Chamber of Industry and Commerce from the city of Sisak (Croatia).

This professional event will feature the most renowned institutions related to agriculture and food products led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, which pays particular attention to the initiatives for organising and holding the World Day of Bees and the project of food products labelling “Quality Mark — Slovenia”.

This year the trade fairs will demonstrate local breeds of domestic animals, materials about farm life, sustainable construction and use of renewable energy sources, model plantations of grain crops, vegetables and grasses grown by traditional and biodynamic methods, and a collection of local grapes. Besides, visitors of these exhibitions can see materials concerning safe work in forest, vast plantations of old varieties of apple trees, as well as taste juices, wines, dairy and meat products.

The organizers particularly distinguish such social events as the national competition of forest area owners, the meeting in honour of the Austrian Styria Day, the youth gathering, the tug of war tournament, the “Agrina kuhinja” culinary competition, the polka dance contest, the football tournament of Slovenian winemakers, the meeting of sommeliers and the knights of wine, as well as the meeting of vintage Steyr tractors fans.

A special bus will be transporting visitors from Ljubljana to Gornja Radgona during all six days of the exhibition.
