On Monday, 17 December 2018, the Ambassador of Japan, Masaharu Yoshida, and the Head of the Economic and Political Relations Department of the Japanese Embassy in Slovenia, Yoshiaki Makino, visited the University of Nova Gorica.
The Rector of the University of Nova Gorica, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik, Vice-Rector for Science and Art, Prof. Dr. Gvido Bratina, and Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Head of the Centre for Atmospheric Research, Prof. Dr. Samo Stanič, met the guests in the Lanthieri Mansion.
After the introductory presentation of the pedagogical and scientific activities of the University of Nova Gorica, the Japanese ambassador was presented with current projects of cooperation between the Slovenian university and the Japanese academic and research institutions. During the meeting, negotiations were held on the possibilities of further cooperation, including the transfer of knowledge from the academic environment to the practical field.
At the end of the official meeting, the ambassador visited the Wine Research Centre at the Lanthieri Mansion in Vipava, as well as the Atmospheric Research Centre, the Laboratory of Physics of Organic Substances, the Laboratory of Materials Science and the Laboratory of Quantum Optics located in Ajdovščina.
