For the sixth year in a row, the DOBA Faculty has been choosing the best Master’s thesis with the aim of encouraging high-quality professional and scientific activities, in particular, focused on innovativeness and the search for specific innovative solutions.
This year, 9 Master’s theses participated in the selection, which were considered by a commission composed of Prof. Dr. Boris Cizelj, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tomaž Klobučar, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Branko Škafar.
The awards for the best Master’s thesis were awarded to the graduate of the Marketing and Sales programme, Karmen Juvan Poplas. She prepared the thesis on Personnel Turnover in the Tourism Industry: Aspects of Organizational Culture and Climate written under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Andrej Raspor and Master Metka Nežič. According to open sources, this is the first scientific work that links organizational culture, climate and staff turnover in the tourism industry of Slovenia.
In her study, the Master’s degree student analysed the problem of staff turnover in the tourism industry, and also established the way the context (Slovenia) affects the theoretically grounded connections between staff turnover, culture and climate in companies operating in the tourism industry. The author offered several recommendations for improving organizational culture and climate in companies operating in the tourism industry.
