The Eleventh Culture and Arts Festival “Beavers” to Be Held in Ljubljana

From 19 January to 8 February 2019, the Eleventh Culture and Arts Festival “Beavers” will take place in the Slovenian capital. The target audience of the festival is children and young people. The theme of the festival will be associated with the dance-movement-body triad (with an emphasis on contemporary art).

The festival will open in the Slovenian Youth Theatre with a premiere of the play about the wise little donkey Ariole (directed by Matjaž Pograjc). After the show, creative workshops and a costumed dance event will take place.

The final event called Plesni stroj BUM BAM (“Dance Machine BUM BAM”, director – Tjaša Črnigoj) will be held on 8 February 2019 at the Kino Šiška City Culture Centre. The festival will be mainly focused on the art of dance. In particular, the best Slovenian professional dancers will take part in the above event, presenting various styles to live music.

As well as after the opening of the festival, at the end of the final event, creative workshops will be held, prepared by young Slovenian dancers under the guidance of mentors from the Sezam Association and the Mala Ulica public institution.

The festival has a rich cultural and entertainment programme. Within the framework of the event, 73 producers will prepare 166 events, in which more than 15 thousand people will take part. Some of the events, in addition to Ljubljana, will take place in Domžale and Sežana. The festival is sponsored by the Zavarovalnica Triglav insurance company.
