On Tuesday, 27 November 2018, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Business Informatics study programme as part of the traditional Business Informatics Day.
The event was attended by students and graduates of the programme, as well as numerous guests – business representatives and employees of the University of Ljubljana, in particular, the Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the University of Ljubljana, Prof. Dr. Borut Božič. The core topic of the event and the final panel discussion was a dispute about the key challenges and prospects offered by the information technologies.
The moderator of the panel discussion was Prof. Dr. Aleš Groznik. Former students – Tomaž Štolfa (a co-founder of Layer), Tjaž Jelovčan (Microsoft), Ana Petrovska (Lek), Miha Valentinčič (Petrol), Master Venčeslav Perko (ELES), Master Teja Batagelj (Gen-I), as well as former members of the Ljubljana University’s Economics Faculty – Prof. Dr. Andrej Kovačič and Prof. Dr. Janez Grad, who made it possible to open and develop the Business Informatics study programme, presented their views on the challenges associated with information technology, as well as described the retrospective and current status of the Business Informatics study programme.
It should be noted that annually about 120 students enrol in the Business Informatics programme, including 30 to 40 foreigners.
