The Faculty of Logistics of the University of Maribor Is Involved in the Integrated Development of a Transport Advancement Strategy for Four Slovenian Communities
The Faculty of Logistics of the University of Maribor was chosen as the author of the integrated transport strategies (ITS) for three Slovenian communities (Žalec, Šmarje pri Jelšah, and Zagorje ob Savi). It also acts as a partner in the development of an ITS for the Šoštanj Community. In case of the Žalec Community, the Faculty also cooperates with a subcontractor, which is the Savinja Development Agency (Razvojna agencija Savinja). In case of the Šmarje pri Jelšah Community, the Faculty’s partner is the Sotla Development Agency (Razvojna agencija Sotla). In case of the Šoštanj Community, the leading partner of the Faculty of Logistics of the University of Maribor (FL UM) is the Urbanisti d.o.o enterprise.
Integrated strategies are a new form of transport planning both at the municipal level and beyond it. The focus is placed on the strategic planning of a transport system, which is based on the principles of sustainable development and improvement of the citizens’ quality of life. Much attention is also paid to the public involvement into the process of ITS development.
