On Tuesday, 18 December 2018, the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor celebrated the 9th anniversary of its work. During the ceremony held in the hall of the faculty, the awards for the faculty’s best student, best teacher and best graduate were presented.
The students of the Brežice Music School created a melodic atmosphere of the event. Then, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Boštjan Brumen, when addressing the audience, noted the importance of each student for the faculty and the educational institution as a whole. During the ceremony, he presented awards to the best students of the 2017/2018 academic year – Ilina Gjorgjievska, Nikola Stanković, Saša Kancler, Anja Lukan, Martina Senekovič, Petra Mikulčić and Alenka Valentinc.
The highest award of the Faculty of Tourism – Zeleni kompas – for the year 2017 was presented to Janko Virant. This award is given to the best graduate of the faculty who, during his or her studies, actively participated in the life of the faculty and the university, helping to increase their reputation at the local, regional and international levels. Thus, the Faculty of Tourism wants to encourage students’ academic, scientific, and other activities that contribute to their professional and personal growth, as well as form the faculty’s image as an educational and research organisation.
According to the Student Council of the Faculty of Tourism, based on a survey conducted among students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andreja Trdina became the best teacher of the faculty in the 2017/2018 academic year.
The event ended with joint photographing and pleasant informal communication between the laureates and guests of the ceremony.
