The Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor Organises the International Geofood Symposium

On Monday, 26 November 2018, the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor organised the International Geofood Symposium in the Terme Hotel at the Terme Čatež Resort. The theme of the event was the use of geothermal energy, primarily in agriculture.

The Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor is one of the partners of the Geothermica project, which also includes companies from the Netherlands and Iceland. The objective of the conference was to stimulate the development of cyclical systems in Slovenia, similar to those used in Iceland and the Netherlands.

During the symposium, a presentation of the Geothermica project and numerous examples of practical use of geothermal energy in Europe and in the world took place.

An interactive seminar was held at the end of the event, where participants shared their views on the problems and needs of using geothermal energy in Slovenia. The symposium allowed the participants to establish new connections and make acquaintances that would significantly affect the future practice of using geothermal energy in the country. In the future, they plan to organise trips to Iceland and the Netherland to study local good practices.
