The FERI Faculty of the University of Maribor Hosts a Meeting of Participants of the International Project on Smart Digital Transformation of Villages in the Alpine Space

The first official meeting (kick off meeting) of participants of the international project Smart Villages – Smart Digital Transformation of Villages in the Alpine Space was held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics of the University of Maribor.

12 partners from 6 countries of the Alpine region take part in the project. The project implementation period is from April 2018 to March 2021. The project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund. The aim of the project is to develop a concept of “smart” digital transformation of villages in the Alpine space, which will improve the quality of life of the local population.

The leading partner of the project is the Institute of Informatics, which operated within the structure of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics of the University of Maribor. Coordinator: Dr. Muhamed Turkanović.

The partners of the project include the University of Ljubljana, the Swiss Working Group for the Development of Mountain Regions – the Schweizerische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für die Berggebiete, the Tyrolean Foundation for the Future – Tiroler Zukunftsstiftung (Innsbruck, Austria), the Association for the Network Development of Territories and Services – Association pour le Développement en reseau des Territoires et des Services (France), and the Polyhedra – the Service and Consulting Centre of the Polytechnic University of Milan on Environmental and Spatial Planning – Poliedra – Centro di servizio e consulenza del Politecnico di Milano su pianificazione ambientale e territoriale (Italy), etc.
