The Festival of Original Beer ‘Makro Beer Fest’ Takes Place for the 4th Time
The organizers called it “a big festival of small breweries.” The fourth Makro Beer Fest was held in Maribor on 29–30 September. 28 breweries were presented at the Festival of Original Beer. Besides Croatian and Serbian producers, the brewers from Hungary, Austria, Poland and Germany also participated in the festival.
Over 100 different types of beer were presented—from pale ale to porter and stout. Organizers provided guests with food and spectacles. The main stage of the festival featured the hip-hop band Icotovi Zobi and funk fans Nesesari Kakalulu. The DJ set Gramofonoteka Sound System performed during the final day of the festival.
The history of the festival began 3 years ago at the Square of Leon Štuklj. It was then called “Styrian Beer Festival”. In 2016, the festival moved to the central square, lasted for 2 days and received a new name of Makro Beer Fest. After a record number of 7 thousand guests visited the festival, Slovenian experts in the field of brewing declared the event the best beer festival in Slovenia.
