The Fourth Honey Queen of Slovenia Is Announced during the AGRA Fair

Within the framework of the AGRA International Agriculture & Food Fair, held in Gornja Radgona (Pomurje region) from the 25th to the 30th of August, the Chairman of the Pomurski Sejem, Janez Erjavec, and the President of the Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association, Boštjan Noč, presented the crown to 24-year-old Valentina Marinič.

The Slovenian honey queen should know the facts from the beekeeping sector and, during her mandate, promote Slovenian beekeeping and beekeeping tourism, as well as encourage and inform people about the benefits of using beekeeping products.

It should be noted that 146 sorts of honey were presented at the current competition within the framework of the AGRA Fair. The best sort, according to the expert commission, was the acacia honey by beekeeper Peter Kolarja (settlement of Ptujska Gora), while the Champion of the Kind title was awarded to the flower honey by Milko Jurinčič (settlement of Marezige), the forest honey by Trajče Nikoloski from Ljubljana, the lime honey by Zvonko Žamut (settlement of Lenart v Slovenskih Goricah), and the chestnut honey by Marinka Košir (settlement of Polhov Gradec).

In total, the expert commission presented 51 gold, 56 silver and 28 bronze medals to the winners.
