The Government of Slovenia Allocates 5.5 Million Euros of Targeted Non-repayable Funds for the Implementation of Projects Provided by Four Companies
On Wednesday, 30 May 2018, the Government included 4 Slovenian companies into the draft development programmes for 2018–2020. Under the initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Kovis Livarna (settlement of Štore), Ocean Orchids (Dobrovnik), Medicop (Murska Sobota) and Termit (settlement of Moravče) received 5.5 million euros of targeted non-repayable funds for the implementation of their investment projects worth 46.1 million euros. The projects of these companies will create 182 new work places during 2018–2020.
Kovis Livarna, a member of the Kovis Group (Brežice), which is the manufacturer of brake systems for trains of the world’s largest manufacturers, received an additional subsidy from the regional budget for the sum of 2 million euros to develop new products under the project of foundry shop modernization in the settlement of Štore. The project will allow the company to additionally employ 85 people (5 persons this year and 40 persons in the next two years) until 2020. According to the Ministry of Economy, the modernization of the foundry shop will make it possible to increase the production capacity, erect a new extension to the existing workshop, build a new transformer station, invest in sand treatment, run an automatic moulding line, purchase two new induction melting furnaces, automate the smelting and treatment plant, as well as optimize the logistics processes in the company. The budget of the whole project is a little more than 24.7 million euros without VAT.
The Government approved the allocation of a regional government subvention worth 2 million euros to Ocean Orchids from Prekmurje, engaged in growing orchids in greenhouses, to implement the project on the construction of a new logistics centre. The project will allow the company to employ 40 people (10 persons in the current and next years, and 20 persons in 2020) until 2020. The investment project will be implemented at the headquarters of the company in Dobrovnik. The new logistics centre will have a fully digitized climate control system with computer monitoring of safety, air temperature, watering of plants and lighting of the premises, as noted in the Ministry of Economy. The total budget of the project is almost 9.3 million euros without VAT.
The manufacturer of medical equipment and ambulance cars Medicop from Murska Sobota will receive a subsidy from the regional budget to implement a project on the construction of a logistics and development centre for the amount of 900 thousand euros. The project will allow the company to employ 23 people until 2022. The majority of new stuff will be recruited by the end of 2020. According to representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Medicop is an export-oriented company that already sells products on the EU market and beyond. Without investments in the logistics and development centre, it could not remain an influential player and strengthen its position in the global market, while maintaining high (by Slovenian standards) additional cost per employee, which is 49 thousand euros. This figure is expected to increase up to 51,500 euros. The budget of the whole project is almost 6.6 million euros without VAT.
The Termit Company from the settlement of Moravče is the leading Slovenian company in quartz sand production and processing and manufacture of support materials for foundries and steel mills. The new production company will be launched in Zagorje. To achieve this goal, the company received a state subsidy in the amount of 600 thousand euros. The project will allow the company to employ 33 people until 2021. The majority of new stuff will be recruited in the next year. The budget of this project is 3.4 million euros without VAT.
