The Graduate School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica Acquired the Academy Status
The Graduate School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica acquired the academy status. The main activities of the Academy are the study of contemporary art, its development in the socio-political context, and the creation of conditions for creative realization of artistic views in everyday life.
Since 2012, the Academy of Arts has been located in a spacious Alvarez palace in the centre of Gorizia. The Academy features the “Digital Art and Practice” (Digitalne umetnosti in prakse) bachelor’s degree program and its advanced Master’s degree course — “Media Art and Practice” (Medijske umetnosti in prakse). The European Commission supported the development of this program within the framework of the ADRIART international project. During the study, the students are introduced to various areas of art, animation, photography, new media, modern practices and scenic developments. The Academy of Art, the same as the rest of the University of Nova Gorica, pays great attention to the international relations of its students and teachers.
The Academy students attend universities-partners in Gorizia, Lisbon, Oslo, Rijeka, Budapest, Graz, Manchester, Vilnius and Turku as part of the international exchange programs or short-term projects. The Academy of Art also hosts students and teachers from the faculties of those universities, providing them with a possibility of working on art projects and films together with the students of the University of Nova Gorica.
