The Ljubljana University Economics Faculty Holds the Young Accountant 2018 Contest

The Ljubljana University Economics Faculty held the Young Accountant 2018 contest. The Society of Accounting and Audit Students organized the contest in cooperation with the Department of Accounting and Audit of the Faculty of Economics. Five companies, Ernst & Young, PwC, BDO revizija, KPMG and Unija računovodska hiša, representing the market of audit and accounting services took part in the organization of the contest as well.

The contest has been held for the second year in a row. In total, 160 students of the Ljubljana University’s Faculty of Economics, the Maribor University’s Faculty of Economics and Business, the Higher School of Accounting and Finance, as well as the Ljubljana University’s Faculty of Mathematics and Physics took part in the contest.

As part of the contest, students competed in teams and individual standings. They solved a theoretical test compiled by teachers of the represented faculties. The team part of the contest involved exploration of various cases prepared by companies working in the field of accounting, taxation, audit and enterprise valuation. Thus, students demonstrated both theoretical and practical knowledge in two contest categories.

The event aroused great resonance among students in terms of communication, establishing contacts with companies and colleagues from other faculties. The contest was also interesting to companies looking for potential employees in a narrow professional field and seeking to establish new contacts.
