The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport Allocates Eight Million Euros to Support Young Researchers

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport allocates eight million euros to support 47 projects presented by young doctors of science. The state allocates 171 thousand euros for the financing of each project.

The tender – Support for Scientists at the Start of Career 2.1, which was announced in July last year, received 85 applications. The co-financing commission selected 47 applications with a total value of just over eight million euros. The 28 selected projects represent the statistical region of Eastern Slovenia, and the 19 projects represent the statistical region of Western Slovenia.

The goal of the tender is to establish links between science and business, help young researchers at the beginning of their academic careers and stimulate private investment in research, development and innovation, as stressed by the Ministry.

Special attention will be paid to unemployed researchers and scientists with recommendations abroad, who will come to Slovenia to implement their research projects. With their knowledge and experience, they will have a significant impact on the activities of scientific organisations in research, development and innovation, as well as on the creation of new knowledge and its use in the course of research activities.
