The Slovenian University Sport Federation and the Ljubljana University Sport Federation organize the National Chess Universiade for the 2018/2019 academic year on Thursday, 29 November 2018. The competition is a qualifying stage for the European Chess Universiade, which will be held in Budapest on 24–28 July 2019.
Students of all state and private colleges, institutes, academies and universities of the country, graduates who completed their studies between 1 October 2017 and 29 November 2018, as well as staff members of colleges, institutes, academies and universities can take part in the Universiade.
The tournament will take place at the Blue Auditorium of the Student Campus (Pivovarniška Street, 6, Ljubljana). Starting at 5:00 p.m. The competition will be held by the En Passant chess club. The Chief Judge – Grand Master Ana Srebrnič (031 376 897).
The blitz chess tournament (control – 3 minutes + 2 seconds per player) will take place in three categories: men’s classification (students), women’s classification (students) and amateurs (mixed tournament for players with a national rating of 1550 and below). The competition will be held according to the rules of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) using the Swiss system of 11 rounds, including the national and the FIDE rankings.
Applications for participation will be accepted until Tuesday, 27 November 2018, until 5:00 p.m. It will be possible tofor participation on the day of the competition, on 29 November 2018, from 4:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
