The New Updates of the Slovenian Pension Reform That Comes into Force in 2020

Raising the retirement age to 67 years is one of the key elements to ensure functioning of the pension payment system. The authors of the Slovenia’s White Paper for pension used different ages (from 63 to 67 years) and various insurance periods (from 15 to 45 years) at providing retirement incentives. The main condition for retirement at the age of 67 years is to achieve a 15-year insurance period.

According to the calculations provided by the Ministry of Labour specialist Andraž Rangus, on average, each person will work no more than 40 years. The pension will be from 60 to 70% of the last salary received by the person.

According to the reform authors, the optimal period of retirement is upon achieving 34 years of experience.
