On Monday, 8 April 2019, in the settlement of Otočec-pri-Novem-Mestu, the Novo Mesto FINI Faculty of Industrial Engineering organized the Fourth International Scientific Conference on the Development of Industrial Engineering – Opportunities, Perspectives, and Problems.

The purpose of the conference is to introduce a new practice of scientific conferences with an emphasis on cooperation between the economy, research, and educational organizations.

The main task of the parties is to ensure the coherence of development trends with personnel policies in the technological and industrial sectors, taking into account the labour market situation, economic development, competitiveness of the economy, and the needs of the social and cultural environment.

After the opening speech of the Head of the Novo Mesto Educational Centre, Štefan David, and the Dean of the Novo Mesto FINI Faculty of Industrial Engineering, Master Iris Fink Grubačević, a plenary lecture by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Igor Kovač from the Jožef Stefan Institute was held. The lecture was dedicated to the Development and Construction of the Concept of Factories of the Future in Slovenia. The content of the reports presented at the conference concerned the modern methods and specific innovative solutions related to industrial engineering. The conference was also first attended by young scientists and researchers. In one of the articles, they presented concepts of reducing weight in structural elements by using hybrid structures, which are of great relevance for the automotive industry. An interesting joint project on the additional use of structural dynamics in creating guitar music was also presented by the Novo Mesto Faculty of Industrial Engineering, the Conservatory of Music and Ballet (Ljubljana), the Naša Produkcija Society of Culture and Arts, and the Ljubljana Construction Directorate. In the end, the participants familiarized themselves with research on innovations in public administration, the development of a knowledge society, consumer behavior in the Internet era and social media, the sustainable development of logistics processes, and the role of machinery in them.

The conference was attended by experts from Slovenia and foreign countries, such as experts in Economics, employees of higher educational institutions, institutes and other representatives of the professional community. The nominee for the Engineer of the Year 2019 title, Dr. Nataša Grlj, from Hella Saturus Slovenija also participated in the conference. She told her success story.
