The Pirnar d.o.o. Slovenian Company Received the German Design Award for the Identification System
The Pirnar d.o.o. (Ljubljana) Slovenian company received the German Design Award for the world’s first ultra-modern entrance doors “with a hidden lock” – a recessed lock system. The doors are equipped with an advanced fingerprint identification system, which minimizes the risk of trespassing. The Pirnar doors also feature a recessed lighting for user’s convenience.
The whole system is integrated into a usual doorknob. It is almost impossible for a stranger to open it. The doorknob is hidden inside the door and is pushed out only when a fingerprint reader identifies a real owner. A few seconds after closing the door, the knob again automatically transforms into a smooth surface, and the keyhole becomes invisible from the outside. That is why such entry is called “the world’s most personal entry”.
The prestigious international German Design Award is presented for outstanding achievements in design. Some experts consider it to be the European ‘Oscar’ for designers. The German Design Award is presented by the German Design Council, which has been one of the leading centres of expertise in the world over the last 60 years.
