The Primorska University Team Wins the Fair Play Award at the European Universiade in Handball

The Primorska University team took 10th place at the European Universiade in Handball held in Antequera (Spain) on 1–9 July. The Slovenian team received the Fair Play award, and Lea Krajnc became the best forwarder of the tournament (64 goals).

In total, 22 teams from 21 universities performed at the Universiade: 12 in the men’s standings and 10 in the women’s standings. In the men’s standings, the handball team of the Ștefan cel Mare University (Suceava, Romania) celebrated the victory. The athletes of the Cologne University (Germany) won the women’s standings.

The members of the Primorska University women’s team are Valentina Panger, Klara Hrovatič, Lea Krajnc, Katja Sešel, Vita Kocet, Urška Ivanovič, Andrejka Leban, Janja Klančar and Dorina Kiralj.

The Slovenian team performed in Group A and was defeated in all three meetings. They lost to the handball team from the University of Malaga (31:47), the Ovidius University from Constanta (32:44), the University of Aveiro (27:47) and the Akdeniz University (26:52).

Then the handball players from the University of Primorska met with Turkish rivals from the University of Aksaray in the match for the 9th place, but failed to cope with the Turks, losing 32:47.
