The Slovenia Junior National Basketball Team Becomes the Bronze Medallist of the World Championship

Slovenia’s national basketball team (3×3) took third place at the World Junior Championship (U-18) beating New Zealand with a score of 21:17 in the bronze match.

Matej Sušec became third among the best scorers, and his partner Samo Gaberšek entered the symbolic team of the tournament.

The Slovenia junior national basketball team with such players as Samo Gaberšek, Rok Vidrih, Jan Gršič and Matej Sušec defeated South Korea, Turkey and China in Group C losing only to the Group’s winner—the national team of Hungary.

In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian national team, which by that time had not suffered a single defeat, opposed the Slovenes, who managed to win only in overtime. The Slovenes lost in the semi-final match against future champions, the national team of Belgium, with a score of 11:13.
