The Spirit State Agency Presents the Invest Slovenia FDI Award
The Spirit State Agency presented its traditional Invest Slovenia FDI Award to the best foreign investors. Among the companies that significantly influenced the development of the Slovenian economy were Titus, Isokon, LPKF and Kuehne + Nagel. The award ceremony took place in Ljubljana.
Awards were presented in four categories: Best Employer, Long-term Presence in the Region, Successful Operating Results and Logistics Centre.
According to the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology Aleš Cantarutti, Slovenia would not be so attractive to foreign investors without effective government policy. He notes that the figures indicate that the country is on the right track. Cantarutti focused his attention on the bills approved by the Government, which he says will further improve the investment climate.
Titus (settlement of Dekane) was announced as the best employer. The company is engaged in development, manufacture and sale of furniture fittings, dampers and other components, as well as automated assembly systems, tooling, injection moulding technology and zinc castings. Titus is one of the largest employers in the Coastal–Karst Region (Slovene: Obalno-kraška regija). In 2016, the company recruited more than 400 new employees. The total staff of the similarly named group includes 720 people around the world. In 2016, the organizational structure of the whole Titus Group changed. The Slovenian company (the largest one) became the mother company for the whole group.
The winner in the Long-term Presence in the Region category is Isokon (Slovenske Konjice), a member of the Isosport Group (Austria). Both entities are part of the Constantia Industries AG Group headquartered in Vienna. Isokon is engaged in the production and processing of thermoplastics. It specialises in the development and manufacture of products in the field of environmentally friendly technical plastics. The staff of the company in Slovenske Konjice includes 160 employees. In 2016, the number of its staff increased by 12%. The company was established in 1955.
First place in the Research and Development category is taken by LPKF (Naklo), a member of the LPKF Laser & Electronics AG Group (Germany). For 35 years of work, LPKF has transformed from a usual workshop into a world famous company. It is engaged in the development, design, production, and sale of machines, devices, tools and laser systems. The company pays close attention to its own research and development strategy in its segment. Today LPKF is the world’s largest supplier of equipment for rapid prototyping in electronics.
Kuehne + Nagel won in the Logistics Centre category. It is the worldwide logistic service, which is part of the similarly named group (Austria). The headquarters of the company is located in the Jože Pučnik Airport (Ljubljana). The group employs over 70 thousand people at 1,300 production facilities in 100 countries. The company provides logistics services in the field of marine, air and road transport, contract logistics, integrated logistics services and customs services. The company started its operation in Slovenia in 2005. Today, it has become one of the leaders in its segment in the country.
