The St. Petersburg State Ballet on Ice (formerly the Leningrad State Ballet on Ice) was founded 150 years ago by choreographer Konstantin Boyarsky. The ballet company performs the most famous ballets by Piotr Tchaikovsky (Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker) and Sergei Prokofiev (Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet). The ballet became famous for its production of The Nutcracker, combining the art of skating and classic Russian ballet.

For the first time, the ballet company visited Slovenia in 2009. At that time, it performed Swan Lake in the Tivoli Hall.

The St. Petersburg State Ballet on Ice is currently managed by the director general Mikhail Kaminov, the Leningrad and Russia multiple champion for artistic skating in doubles. The main choreographer is Konstantin Rassadin, who soloed for more than 23 years at the Mariinsky Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

Figure skaters of the St. Petersburg Ballet gave more than 7 thousand performances around the world. Most of them have Russian and international awards in art skating in singles or doubles.
