The Summer School of Digital Technologies Is Held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana

On Friday, 22 July 2019, the two-week Summer School of Digital Transformation for Resilient Cities completed its work at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana.

It was fully funded by EIT Digital. The European Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana acted as co-organizers of the Summer School of Digital Technologies. The school was attended by 33 Master’s degree students from 15 countries.

During the work of the school, students solved practical problems posed by 7 organizations from Ljubljana, Kranj, and Venice. For example, they had to overcome the consequences of a possible earthquake in Ljubljana or find ways to reduce social tensions in the city caused by a massive influx of tourists (using the example of Venice). To this end, all students went to Venice for three days, where, together with local organizations and stakeholders, they developed possible solutions using new methods.

As part of the summer school, students learned to analyse workflows, the activities of organizations, discussed the possibility of introducing new working methods, new organizational and technological solutions to the activities of organizations responsible for overcoming the consequences of emergency situations. Students studied the specifics of the advanced technology impact on information, transport and safety services in modern cities, new forms of decentralized communication and coordination of all participants in the process of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
