The University of Ljubljana Holds a Presentation of the Concept of the Greater Slovenian-Hungarian Dictionary

On 4 October 2018, the presentation of the concept of the Great Slovenian-Hungarian Dictionary took place in the assembly hall of the University of Ljubljana. The honorary speakers of the event were the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, Dr. Jernej Štromajer, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University of Maribor, Dr. Marina Tavčar Krajnc, and the Head of the Institute of Ethnonational Studies, Dr. Sonja Novak Lukanović.

The event presented the current results of the Great Slovenian-Hungarian Dictionary project, which will be compiled for the next few years at the Centre for Linguistic Sources and Technologies of the University of Ljubljana in collaboration with the Institute of Ethnonational Studies and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Maribor. Dr. Jutka Rudaš presented a model of bilingual education and the role of the Hungarian Language and Literature Department of the Philosophy Faculty of the University of Maribor in its development.

“The Concept of Slovenian-Hungarian Dictionary: From Linguistic Source to User” is a national target research project that was funded by the State Agency for Scientific Research and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport from 1 October 2015 to 28 February 2018. The project was headed by Dr. Iztok Kosem. It was developed by 8 researchers – employees of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Ljubljana, the Institute of Ethnonational Studies and the Philosophy Faculty of the University of Maribor.
