The University of Ljubljana Is Ready to Meet Freshmen

The solemn freshmen welcoming ceremony called ‘Pozdrav brucem’ will take place at one of the most beautiful squares of the capital — the Kongresni trg, in front of the University of Ljubljana, on 3 October 2016 at 4:00 p.m. The students and guests of the ceremony will enjoy an interesting and eventful program.

At the official opening ceremony of the 2016/2017 academic year, the Rector of the University of Ljubljana Ivan Svetlik, the Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković, and the President of the Student Council of the University of Ljubljana Jan Kukovec will take the floor. The event will be attended by the deans of all 23 faculties and 3 academies of the University of Ljubljana. From 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the departments of the University of Ljubljana will present their educational programs and the schedule of extracurricular activities. About 14 cultural organizations will distribute free tickets to their exhibitions and presentations among the students of the University of Ljubljana.

Everyone will be able to memorize the first academic day by camera near a special photo-booth. Participants of the event will meet the representatives of the AIESEC Company (, which helps students develop leadership skills in the course of exchange programs and internships in the leading foreign universities. The company will prepare a special quiz for freshmen, and six lucky winners will be able to attend one of the AIESEC Company ( and travel abroad. 

To entertain freshmen and visitors, the organizers prepared a fun concert program, during which Tilen Artač, Mažorete Laško, Jernej Kozan, the ‘France Marolt’ Academic Folklore Group, the dance duo of Daniil Volkov & Yekaterina Novikova, Maestro Anton Volkov and Anya Furlan, the Trombone Connection Band of the University of Ljubljana’s Academy of Music and the Marina Mårtensson Trio will perform. The event will end at about 8:00 p.m. with the music concert by the CoverLover Band. The most persistent participants will be able to continue casual chatting at a party near the Student Campus.
