The University of Maribor Participates in an International Project to Improve the Quality of Higher Education

The University of Maribor participates in the Erasmus+ project to improve the quality of higher education. The name of the project sounds like Reforming Doctoral Studies in Montenegro and Albania — Good Practice Paradigm — MARDS. The project involves 15 partners from 6 countries, the coordinator is the University of Montenegro. The implementation period is 3 years (from November 2018 to November 2021).

The main objective of the project is the reform of doctoral studies in these countries in accordance with the Salzburg principles and the opening of sustainable and modern pilot joint doctoral schools with the participation of two neighbouring partner countries as an example of good practice for the Western Balkans region.

The main tasks of the University of Maribor as a partner in the project are to ensure the quality of project implementation in accordance with the quality assessment plan, participate in organizing a course on the quality of doctoral education for participants from universities in Montenegro and Albania, and cooperate in organizing a joint doctoral school in Podgorica.

The activities of the University of Maribor within the framework of the project are coordinated by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics with the participation of teachers from the Faculty of Organizational Sciences and the Faculty of Agriculture and Biosystems Sciences. The administrative management of the project is carried out by the Department for Research Studies and Arts of the University of Maribor.

It should be added that the first meeting of the project participants took place on 20–22 February 2019 in Podgorica.
