The University of Maribor Repeatedly Becomes One of the World’s Best Universities in Teaching Astronomy and Physics

The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (WUR), which covers 48 areas of knowledge, includes 4,488 universities and over 19,000 study programmes. Only 1,130 universities out of all existing met the conditions and entered the list of the best educational institutions.

The University of Maribor ranks among 401–450 places. Thus, according to the QS WUR ranking, the university enters the 3% of the world’s best universities for the second consecutive year. The Physics and Astronomy study programme is provided at the Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics. The QS WUR ranking is an important source of information on higher educational institutions and the conditions of study in different countries, annually assessing the quality of work and the level of study programmes presented by universities.

The ranking takes into account information from 50 countries, and its authors cooperate with more than 2,000 higher educational institutions. Their QS TopUniversities website is one of the most visited websites providing information about universities. The QS annually publishes various rankings of universities and their study programmes, mainly targeted at future students. The QS analyses universities based on the results of international surveys conducted among employees of higher educational institutions and specialists in the field of higher education (170 thousand questionnaires for 5 years), and employers (158 thousand questionnaires for 6 years), evaluating the level of graduates of specific universities.
